I love Piers Anthony's series. The Incarnations of Immortality is probably his best, but for fun and puns I do love Xanth.

Hmmmm... You mention books that I have, but have not yet gotten around to reading, such as His Dark Materials... I've never gotten back to reading the rest of the Harry Potter books either. I stopped midway through #2 (Chamber of Secrets) due to some personal reasons. Now, I have read a few of the Dragonriders of Pern series; I would list that as my favorite but I haven't read all of it, and it's on par with some other books - such as Mercedes Lackey's own dragonriders series - in which I completely forget the title of. There's a good trilogy called The Firebringer Trilogy about unicorns that I would suggest. Honestly I don't think I can vote, for the fact that I haven't read all the books yet and/or it's on par at least somewhat with other books. Sorry.

Oh I have to go with "The Lord of the Rings" Series & "The Hobbit".
"The Chronicles of Narnia" is a close second & "Harry Potter" would be third...I never did finish the Harry Potter series...I stopped at the 5th book "Order of Phoeinx" cause it just killed my interest after they killed of one of my fav characters.

But still I have to go with TLotR series since I grew up on them. That is a series I can read & watch the movies over & over & over.....again & never I mean never get tired of.
