I've been organizing my favorites and choosing characters to draw for other people, and it just struck me how blessed I am in my life. I have an awesome family, a great set of school buddies, a perfect set of work friends, and of course YOU. My online friends (on my main forums, on my pet simulations, and of course here) are wonderful inspirations.

I can't express how much I appreciate you guys. I have SO much gift-art from so many people BUT the main thing is that you make my days brighter. I'm always excited to see if there's a new contest or if someone has noted me. I love to see your work (and hope that maybe someone has drawn my own characters again ). I have so much fun drawing for other people--speaking of which, if you'd like a (sloooow) drawing, feel free to note me! I know that I have a Pen Pal image and prizes to do first, but then I'm free to draw whatever.

I just really, really appreciate how much sweet affection I get on DeviantArt, in the SailorMoon community, and in life in general. I know that I'm not perfect--I'm not a very good artist and I can be really mean/rude/tactless sometimes, among other faults--but you guys make me want to be the best that I can make myself. You inspire me. You give me hope. You care about me, and so I care about myself. You make me want to help and strive and work towards a better future online AND offline for myself AND everyone else in the world.

Thank you for being my friends. I love you.

Deviation Feature Meme

Thu May 16, 2013, 1:30 PM

Rules:
1. I will feature my five favorite deviations of each of the first ten deviants to comment on this journal.
2. If you comment, it would be nice if you also set up this journal. It is not as much fun if no one returns the favor of featuring. The original meme suggested that you put the poster from whom you got the meme in the first slot, so I suggest that as well.
3. I suppose that I'll stop featuring at ten deviants, but who knows?

Original Character Feature Meme

Rules:
1. I will feature my favorite character of each of the first ten people to comment on this journal. I will also tell you why those original characters are my favorites!
2. If you comment, it would be nice if you also set up this journal. It is not as much fun if no one returns the favor of featuring. The original meme suggested that you put the poster from whom you got the meme in the first slot, so I suggest that as well.

(I'll add the images later today.)

I wanted to say Usako at first, but I love Rin a whole lot. Rin has had it rough for many years (and lifetimes!), but she's still just so cheerful. Besides, she's Jupiterian; how can I not love her?

2. =Unisamas
I'm sure my answer will change when I read more about Uni's original senshi, but for now I'm going to say Peppermint Mocha. Uni was the one to get me into MLP: FiM and I love her little pony barista. In addition, Uni based Pepper on one of my favorite drinks and that counts for a lot.

3. *SailorPtah
No question: Bianca Washington. I can't help but love a kind, sweet bi girl. Besides which, her design is beautiful. Her relationship with Patrick/Sparrow is precious and she's just broken enough to be a woobie but not so broken as to be depressing. Bee is my girl.

4. *elila
Leni, Leni, Leni. The poor girl can never catch a break. However, she beat out Selenity I, Xantara, AND Peach as my favorite character of Elila's. Leni gives up her home, her family, and her very life to fight evil. There's nothing more admirable than that to me.

I took the Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test with Sailor Song/Muse/Euterpe/Minerva as my test subject and adapted her based on her score.

The most recent changes include:
Name- Changed to conform to the Inner Senshi template and to make her given name an actual name.
Deity and associated senshi title and weapon- Changed  to conform to the Roman god template.

Name: Wakana Oono- 和 (wa) "harmony" 奏 (kana) "play music, complete" 大野 (oono) "large field"
Deity: Minerva- Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts, defense, and trade. She was the virgin goddess of commerce, crafts, magic, medicine, music, poetry, weaving, and wisdom.
Primary Aura Color: 141741
Secondary Aura Color: #005500
Team: Inner Guardians
Uniform Template: Inner Senshi
Stars Weapon: Minerva Flute

Notes:
- Minerva as a senshi has the "element" of sound waves to coincide with her mythological counterpart as goddess of music.
- Minerva's attacks work in close harmony with those of Mercury and feature distraction techniques as well as incapacitating skills.
- I chose dark blue and dark green as Minerva's colors since no other senshi has green as a secondary color, and music doesn't really have a color. In addition, I chose dark blue because it's my favorite color, and it seems like the only color that more than one senshi can use. As it stands, three canon senshi and Minerva have blue auras/uniforms.
- Minerva follows the Inner Senshi uniform template, as Minerva was the planet where the Asteroid Belt is located and Minerva was an Inner Senshi (to counteract my original Eris in the Outer Senshi).
- Minerva's gloves are as long as the other Inners Senshi's.
- Minerva has one collar stripe to balance with Mars and Venus against Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter.
- Minerva's boots are unique as is all senshi footwear. I decided her boot length because three non-moon senshi have boots, three senshi have Mary Jane-like shoes, and three (with Eris) have short boots. Although with Minerva there is one more long-boot senshi, I don't consider the difference that big a deal. Excluding the moon senshi, there would be no way to be even anyway.
- Minerva's earrings are dark blue treble cleft studs, to balance with Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Neptune versus the dangle-earring senshi of Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, and Eris.
- Minerva has dark blue hair in a low, tight braid. I designed her hair as such because I love braids. As well, her hair also fits into the balance of the canon senshi and my original senshi. Four senshi (with Minerva) have long hair, three (with Eris) have mid-length hair, and three have short hair. In addition, Mercury, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn have hair close to their aura colors. The four other canon senshi have hair in different colors from their aura colors. Eris and Minerva fit into this balance: Eris' hair is not her aura color, while Minerva's is.

My brother needs help!

Fri Apr 26, 2013, 9:55 PM

My brother and his ex are divorcing. She has no job and lives with her parents. As far as we can tell, she's gunning for full custody of their children to get child support from him.

I know this woman. While my brother has his faults, she is a worse parent than him. I won't go into back-biting, but joint custody would be best and, if not that, sole custody for him would be better. My brother is flawed but he's a better parent than she is right now.

My brother cannot be without his kids. They are the only thing he lives for--literally. If he loses his children and becomes "weekend dad," I fear for his quality of life and their childhoods.

Please, if you can, donate to my brother's GoFundMe to pay for his custody lawyer. The funds will not be used for the divorce filing and such; all donations will go solely to help my brother remain in his kids' lives.

Please. This isn't for him or me, really. It's for the two babies I would die for who need their dad in their lives.

So I've lost 54 pounds in 9 months.

Wed Apr 10, 2013, 6:09 PM

That averages out to 5.13 pounds a month. That is also almost exactly a quarter of my original weight. I am now officially the lightest I have even been as an adult.

Go read But I'm a Cat Person!

Mon Mar 4, 2013, 11:00 AM

FIND IT HERE----> [link] <----FIND IT HERE

OK, first, I have to preface this glowing recommendation with the admission that I probably wouldn't be writing this review out if I didn't have a chance to win something out of it. Nonetheless, the comic in question is worth the effort, even without an incentive. Therefore, I feel that I'm somewhat redeemed.

Anyway, first I'll drop some basic information. But I'm a Cat Person's author is Erin Ptah, known as: *SailorPtah here on DeviantArt. The comic's second anniversary was this February, so Erin is trying to get the word out. As both an old friend and a great writer, I felt obligated to oblige her.

BICP is the story of Bianca Washington, Sparrow Applebaum, and their contracted Being, Patrick. Beings are magical, well, beings that exist in a parallel universe to our own. The Beings have basic animal forms, but they can take the forms of any animals or humans. Beings are perpetually in a state of competition known as The Game. The Game appears to have no real rhyme or reason outside of amusing the human Masters of the Beings, but recent developments in the comic seem to indicate some sort of meaning to The Game outside of keeping bored millionaires and young women occupied.

Patrick, as the story's main Being, has a shrouded history rife with abuse from his last Master and many millennia of fighting in The Game. Along with Patrick are Cybele, the cute rabbit Being whose Master is the Stephen Colbert proxy Arthur Bennett; the Raven Poe, whose Master Miranda is Patrick's last Master's daughter, Reseda, a cat Being with the sweet Timothy as her Master; the Tiger, media mogul Ann Walker's Being, and most recently Kara Lynn, young and temperamental Jany's Being and girlfriend.

As far as humans are concerned, the above Masters join Bianca and Sparrow as well as several supporting characters like Sparrow's boss and her mother. There are also the usual "bad" people in Arthur Bennett, Miranda's father, and others. However, Erin has a way of stirring murky waters as far as characterization is concerned; we won't know who is truly malevolent until the last page, I suspect.

Concisely, The cast of BICP is extremely fleshed-out and varied. In fact, Bianca, the co-main character of the comic, is a person of color, as is Cybele, Miranda, Poe, and many other characters. Part of what drew me to BICP is the fact that it doesn't star nothing but attractive, straight, white people. Besides many ethnicities and races, there is representation of nearly every sexual orientation and body type—though I'm holding out hope for a truly BBW at some point. ;)

The story itself kept me around. Although you'd expect your typical "collect 'em all" fare from the premise of BICP, the comic is anything but. Both a parody and a deconstruction of the genre, so far there is no real point to Beings and The Game. Bianca and Sparrow are not gunning to be PokeBeing Masters or the saviors of the DigiBeing world. They just happened to have contracted with a Being who needed somewhere to go. The story is deepening every page, but that alone is a refreshing taste.

Besides The Game and its purpose, BICP does a great job of focusing on interpersonal relationships. Even a relationship as simple as Bianca and Sparrow is more complex than at first glance. They're best friends and roommates, but there's history there. Sparrow helped Bianca through some heavy stuff during their Sophomore year—stuff the readers still don't know. As well, Bianca is bisexual and Sparrow is a lesbian, so there IS a possibility of romance in the future, though compatible friends who stay just friends seems to be the path that they're taking, and that's refreshing as well. Then there's Patrick's subservient relationship to Bianca (which we're seeing is NOT how all Beings act), Miranda's relationship with her father who drove Patrick away, Bianca's relationship with Miranda as Miranda fights to retrieve Patrick—there's so much more to this tale than your typical fighting comic.

However, a comic is a visual medium, so I feel that I must also sound off on the artwork of the story. Erin has a neat way of only coloring eyes, hair, and important items of note. The style leads the eye to the things that matter, like the characters' special trinkets or those oh-so-cliché "lipid pools." The artwork itself is unique, though I occasionally feel that the characters models aren't always as uniform as could be. Sparrow's prodigious nose, for example, might seem bigger or smaller in one scene compared to another. However, generally, Erin gets the characters down well, and the comic is always alive with backgrounds and details that many other comic artists lack. Some people might be put off by that—you silly minimalists—but I personally feel like the world of BICP is more "real" with the extra details.

Overall, I can truthfully say with truthiness that But I'm a Cat Person is one of my favorite comics. Erin utilizes a strong sense of equality to create interesting characters in a unique world. The story is dark and light, serious and hilarious. I highly recommend it (even if I don't win the points).

Just to recap:

This is a GoFundMe for my mom. Mom isn't doing very well financially or optically lately and I figured, 'why not?' The worst that will happen is that no one will donate and people will call me a greedy money-hog, but I'd take much worse for Mom. Hell, I'd take a bullet for her, so a little malice isn't anything. And who knows? Maybe I'll reach my 5k goal.

So yeah, if you have a spare fifty cents and want to help out, please feel free to donate. I'm not too proud to beg for my family. I'm also going to send Mom most (if not all) of my tax rebate so that should help a little, but it's not going to be much since I'm single. :/ I wish I didn't have to save for when I'm looking for a job next fall.

I had sent the first fifty or so when I got it, but I sent the rest of it ($130!) just now.

Photobucket

I just wanted to thank each of every one of you who donated, thought nice thoughts, or just helped by being my friend! I'm going to keep the fundraiser up and I'd still like to reach my original goals of $500 or $5000(!), but I'm tired of keeping it a secret from my mom. :/ I want her to know how much I love her and how nice my friends are!

Maturity sucks. :(

Fri Nov 2, 2012, 1:38 PM

I stopped commenting/watching/etc. three specific SailorMoon deviants a few years ago due to a big shitstorm involving friends. However, having gone back and reread all of the comments involved, I see now that I took things badly. Although I still stand by what I wrote at the time, I also see the other artists' viewpoints and understand where they were coming from. So now I'm all riled up again, I'm guilty for going off the hook, and I'm annoyed that the world can't just be black and white like I want it to be.

I miss being a blind, shallow child. :/

A couple of years ago on my 25th birthday I wrote a whiny journal about how I hadn't done anything with my life. Last year I just said thank you to all of my lovely, sweet friends and family for their love. THIS year I'm going to say thank you again for being in my life AND talk about all the ways that I've improved my life from two years ago.

First of all, I know how to drive now! I'm still learning, but I'm shooting to go for my license within the next month or so. I wanted to get my license before my birthday but my friend who is teaching me wants me to practice parallel parking some more first. I agree with her. XD But otherwise, I drive at least once a week and have done all the usual day, good weather driving. Next I tackle bad weather and night!

Secondly, I've been on a diet since July and I've lost seventeen pounds! I still need to start exercising more regularly, but I've been on a 1200 calorie diet since July and it's going pretty good. I hope to lose over half of my body weight eventually, so losing weight slowly will be safer in the long run. I do still love my cookies, though.

Also, I've been going out a lot more. I go out at least once a month with my work friends for drinks and my good friend and I see a movie about once a month as well. In fact, I might be going to the Renaissance Festival with my two friends this weekend, next weekend I'm going out with my work friends, and I'm going to my good friend's birthday party later in October. I almost don't have time to do anything alone anymore!

Of course, I've been neglecting my friends here on DeviantArt, but I have been making more of an effort than previous years to stay in touch at least a little. I do need to email all of my pen-pals, though. They are sorely missing life gossip from me. And as always, feel free to note me here! I will always respond eventually.

As far as dating is concerned, I'm getting more involved with OKCupid. I'm messaging a few folks back-and-forth right now. I kind of wish I had more confidence to ask someone to meet me, but I guess that's a little fast for anyone. At the very least, I hope to make new friends. I may not find my soul mate online but I can always use more friends.

Oh, I'm also doing another year of AmeriCorps VISTA with my site again! At first I thought that I'd have to leave since their program is ending in November, but my site (which was a sub-site of a core site) has become their own core site so I can stay on as their core site VISTA. I'm so happy and relieved; I was really worried about finding a job. I do hope to start saving money and looking for next year, however. There's no sense in putting off tomorrow when I can plan today!

Another interesting thing I became this year is a poetry group member. We meet once a month and usually have a glass of wine while we read and discuss our poems. It's so inspiring to be around other poets that write such beautiful work. I'm also getting many ideas for my own poetry which I really needed. I hadn't really written any since college.

Although it's not as socially glamorous, I joined Al-Anon this year as well. I have a few people in my life who are addicts, and I come from a dysfunctional home, so I really appreciate the support. It's a great group, and I highly recommend finding a chapter in your area if you need help dealing with someone with an addiction of any kind. I've been so much more assertive and happy since I joined.

What else, what else? Oh, I'm planning for my next tattoo! I'm going to get it next year before the release of the new SailorMoon anime and it's going to be SailorMoon inspired, of course! I think that I'll get it when I reach 75% of my previous body weight. It will be a great present to me for my hard work.

So yep. That's my last two years. I decided back in January that 2012 is my year to start improving since I'll turn 27 on October 3rd (2 and 7 are my favorite numbers). 2013 is my year to complete as many of my Self Improvement Goals as possible and continue those without definite ends. Wish me luck, everyone! I have less than a week for the full report on how I've done.

EEEEEEEE, MY BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP!

#MuNuLambda-Gin-House is a club for ChibiUsa and all of her fan daughters! Please join and submit. I don't want my art to be the only art in there. :/ Also, please suggest ideas for contests, events, and anything else!

So I can't renew my subscription right now since I spent my DA money on commissions and I'm trying to save money for my Mom and my vacation. I had forgotten just how many ads that are all over this place. XD Oh, well. It will be a new experience and it's not the end of the world. I'd rather have awesome art and help my mom than be ad-less. I will miss the browsing features, though. *sigh*

So I forgot how awesome and sweet is my friend *UnseenVision. I popped on just now and saw that he got me a three-month subscription! <3 That's so nice, especially considering how AWOL I've been lately. I'll have to do something REALLY nice for you, dude.

ALL THE INFORMATION IS HERE: [link] AND [link] AND [link] ! GUYS, GUYS, GUYS! A BRAND-NEW SAILORMOON ANIME WITH BOTH THE ORIGINAL USAGI AND MAMORU! GUYS, GUYS, GUYS! NEW SAILORMOON, NEW SAILORMOON CHARACTERS, NEW SAILORMOON MERCHANDISE!

GUYS!

I JUST FUCKING LOVE SAILORMOON!

Sat Jun 2, 2012, 8:56 PM

It's been fifteen years since I was a wee little girl, sitting up at 6:30AM, watching the tale-end of Monster Rancher (and then Sonic Underground), glued to the set in the dark of the morning, trying not to squeal and wake my family. It's been fifteen years since I learned how to fight evil by moonlight and win love by daylight. It's been fifteen years of moon power and girl power and the power of love and justice. It's been fifteen years of fanart, fanfiction, fandom, and fans. It's been fifteen years and I'M STILL GOING STRONG, BABY!

FUCK YEAH SAILORMOON!

LOL, I suppose it won't kill me to be without a subscription for a while. Right now I'm trying to save money to A) send to my mom, B) move next year, and C) go to a friend's wedding as I'm a bridesmaid! I'm just going to miss no ads and polls. Ah well, such is life.

I need to start drawing more again before I worry about what *I* get to see! XD I owe so many people gifts, prizes, and all sorts of stuff. I'll focus on that for now! Luckily summer is a slow time at work so I should be more motivated to draw in my free time since I won't be so tired and lazy. XD

Edit: It turns out that I had enough points in my account to extend my premium account! I remember now that I had bought the points to use for a contest prize. Unfortunately, I couldn't just buy the number of points that I needed so I bought the next highest number. Lucky me!

Please consider donating to this.
